Understanding Eye Floaters

The Growing Problem

Blue light from electronic devices and indoor lighting might be a key driver of their formation, so younger people are having them more and more often.

70-80% of people now report they have floaters. People with them are often "willing to trade 1.1 years of every 10 years of their remaining life to get rid of their floaters."

Despite this, treatments are limited to expensive surgeries or lasers.

The Vitreous Fluid Explained

Illustration of vitreous fluid in the eye

The vitreous fluid in the eyes is what makes up most of your eyeballs. That fluid isn't just water, it's full of collagenous protein, hyaluronic acid and other structural components that give it its characteristic jelly-like features.

It also contains tons of antioxidants, in order to prevent these structures from breaking down from oxidative stress. Without enough of these antioxidants, these structures break down and clump up in the vitreous.

The back of the eyes is what facilitates vision (the retina), so if there's anything in the vitreous obstructing the retina from your visual field, it will impair your sight. If that's these clumped up structures, then you get floaters.

Clinical Studies on Floater Elimination

There have only been two clinical studies on supplements that get rid of eye floaters.

4K Vision has the ingredients from both - combined into one ultimate formula for maximum floater elimination.

Clinical study
First Study

Fruit Enzymes Reduce Floaters by 70%

A recent study showed that eye floaters were completely eliminated in 70% of people in a few months with a simple supplement.

Supplement Composition (per capsule)

  • 190 mg bromelain — enzyme from pineapple
  • 95 mg papain — enzyme from papaya
  • 95 mg ficin — enzyme from fig

Dosage Groups

  1. Placebo
  2. Low dose — 1 capsule/day
  3. Middle dose — 2 capsules/day
  4. High dose — 3 capsules/day

Results After 3 Months

  • No effect
  • 55% elimination
  • 62.5% elimination
  • 70% elimination

Bromelain and papain are both included in 4K Vision, with one serving containing the amount of bromelain and papain in the high dose.

Clinical Results

After 3 months of fruit enzyme treatment, patients reported significant improvements.

How Fruit Enzymes Work Against Floaters

Antioxidant Effect

Prevents damage to extracellular structure by neutralizing free radicals that cause oxidative stress.

Break Down Clumps

Enzymatically breaks down the collagen clumps, and degraded hyaluronic acid that form floaters.

Second Study

Antioxidant Blend Reduces Floaters by 46.7%

Published in 2021 in Translational Vision Science & Technology, this study randomized people with floaters to either placebo or an active group.

Supplement Composition (per capsule):

  • 125 mg L-lysine
  • 40 mg vitamin C
  • 26.3 mg Vitis vinifera (grape) extract
  • 5 mg zinc
  • 100 mg Citrus aurantium (bitter orange)

Protocol:

  • 1 capsule per day
  • 6 month duration

One serving of 4K Vision, in addition to bromelain and papain described above, includes all of these ingredients in these exact amounts.

Objective Measurements

People taking the antioxidant blend had huge improvements in visual discomfort.

After the 6 months, they rated their visual discomfort as improved by nearly 50%.

How This Supplement Works

The supplement administered mainly worked by providing direct antioxidants (vitamin C) or nutrients that are cofactors in our enzymatic cofactors (zinc). These prevent the damage to the structure of the vitreous which can result in floaters.

Lysine is important for the cross linking collagen proteins, which maintains their structure as well.

Vitis vinifera (grape) extract & Citrus aurantium (bitter orange) also have antioxidant properties.

Here's a visualization of what the supplement did. On the top (A) is one individual before the study. The bottom (B) is them after 6 months of the supplement.

Results After Treatment

Improvement in Daily Life 46.7%
Persistent Discomfort Decrease 77.8%
Floater Area Decrease 17%
